Dr Will Le Quesne

DIRECTOR INTERNATIONAL CENTRE FOR OCEAN PROTECTION AND USE – PRINCIPAL SCIENTIST

Will is a Principal Ecosystem Scientist, and Director of the International Centre for Ocean Protection and Use. He is also Director of the Middle East Programme. Dr Le Quesne is a research and advisory scientist with over 15 years’ experience in leading and participating in international and multi-disciplinary marine advisory, assessment and research programmes. His research has constantly explored the balance between ocean protection and use, focussing on human-environment interactions, climate change, ecosystem assessments and implementation of the ecosystem approach. This has addressed societal interests related to biodiversity conservation, food security, human health and sustainable economic development. Will has wide experience of international collaboration, carrying out research and and providing advice to governments in the Middle East, Asia, Africa and South American as well as collaborating with UK and European partners. Will has published research papers with co-authors from across 5 continents. He has participated in national and international advisory and technical working groups including ICES, STECF, HBDSEG, EC and ROPME.
