Near-optimal rewards from multiple species harvested by several fishing fleets

J.W. Horwood

The study applies recent advances in the development of algorithms for the locally optimal stochastic control of problems involving several species, interacting biologically, and multiple controls, such as different fishing fleets. A successful application is found in the cases where there is a harvestable species and a pest, and where there are two harvestable species. The applications also illustrate that optimal controls can be found in cases where curvatures of the reward function, at the optimum, are not concave.
