M. gadi infections in saithe from the North Sea are reported. Infected gallbladders were recognised macroscopically by their shrunken appearance and pale colouration. The host response to plasmodia of M. gadi was proliferation of the gallbladder epithelium producing papillary - ingrowths which ultimately filled the gallbladder. Possible effects of M. gadi on growth rates and condition factor are discussed.
