This Introduction summarises the proceedings of the ICES Symposium on Shellfish Life Histories and Shellfishery Models which was held from 25-29 June 1990 a the University of Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada. Scientists from 27 countries attended and presented a total of 167 papers and posters.
