Radioimmunoassayshave been developed that detect the main metabolites of the maturation-inducing steroid,17 alpha ,20 beta -dihydroxy-4- pregnen-3-one in female plaice (Pleuronectes platessa).Plasma levels of these metabolites increase dramatically during final oocyte maturation.
