A pheromone in female trout urine

E.L.M. Vermeirssen, A.P. Scott, J.P. Sumpter and F. Prat

When male rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) are exposed to femaleurine, plasma levels of GtH II rise within 5 min and levels of 17,20beta -P between 20 and30 min. However, 30% of the males show no response. This lack of response cannot becorrelated with initial levels (i.e. pre-urine exposure) of cortisol, 17,20beta -P, GtH IIor GSI.
