The first stock-assessment workshop of the Fifth International Conference and Workshop on Lobster Biology and Management had no formal presentations and consisted of a round-table discussion between scientists, fisheries managers and the fishing industry on a series of key aspects of lobster stock assessment. The workshop covered the collection of data used in stock assessments, the use of juvenile or pre-recruit indices, stock-recruitment relationships and definitions of overfishing.
