In this project we propose to develop PCR-based species-specific genetic markers, to identify eggs from commercially important fish species whose spawning overlap in time and space, therefore eggs and larvae are part of the ichthyoplankton but it is difficult to distinguish between species by their morphology. The ultimate aim of this project is to improve the egg production method, now employed to estimate stock sizes and forecast adult abundance of target species.
