An outbreak of proliferative kidney disease is described affecting farmed Golden trout Oncorhynchus mykiss aguabonita in the United Kingdom. The fish displayed the clinical symptoms of the disease such as characteristic swelling of the posterior kidney and spleen. Confirmation of infection with Tetracapsula bryosalmonae in the renal tissue was conducted using electron microscopy and immunohistochemistry using a T. bryosalmonae specific monoclonal antibody.
