Title
An Introduction to R
Publication Abstract

A three-day training course delivered to post-graduate research students

About the course

Being able to explore, display and analyse your data are key scientific skills. The free, open-source software package R, used by scientists around the world, can help you to do this. R is a based on a command language rather than menus, meaning it is hugely flexible and powerful but this can make getting started a challenge. Therefore, this course provides a kick-start to learning R.
We will cover:
·         how to set-up and work effectively with R;
·         getting your data in and data handling;
·         producing graphics, from simple plots to multiple-panel displays and publication quality outputs;
·         and an introduction to statistical analysis with R.
The aim is to get you up and running, providing you with the knowledge to be able to continue learning R within your own research.
