Significance:

Results in stunted fish which are difficult to fillet. Affected fish are usually discarded.

Lession:

Chronic inflammatory reaction between vertebrae, protruding between vertebrae and causing localised compression of the spinal cord. Foci of Gram -ve bacteria are present within the inflammatory tissue.
