Significance:

Very unusual to find a systemic PKD infection during the winter months, particularly since there seems to be very little host response.

Lession:

Parasite cells are widespread in the kidney. A few have macrophages associated with them but there is little evidence of the massive hyperplasia of the interstitial tissue usually associated with infection.
