Trauma
Lateral lesions caused by fish being persistantly persued by males trying to initiate spawning. As a result the scales on the entire third of the body were completely abraded and extensive fungal growth developed. No significance but of interest because of the observations on the cause of the trauma.
Histology showed complete absence of lateral scales and necrosis of underlying muscle tissue with the lesion penetrating to the peritoneum. Fungal hyphae visible and also inflammatory cells. There is oedema of the epidermis and degeneration of some of the ova. Additionally a liver anomaly extends to a large area of distended ducts, possibly bile ducts.
