Eosinophilic kidney and spleen
Kidney and spleen
The presence of eosinophils is often associated with helminth infections. The changes associated with the nephrocalcinosis were minimal and would probably not be macroscopically visable. The swollen and degenerative nephrons, which were numerous in some cases could have produced the clinical signs.
KIDNEY 2: eosinophilc pigment containing droplet cells in the interstital tissues. KIDNEY 6: Very large eosinophilic droplets in nephron epithelia. Nephrons surrounded by numerous eosinophils. KIDNEY 11: Marked eosinophilia of several nephrons as kid. 6 but no eosinophils present. KIDNEY 12: as kid 11 plus some degenerative nephron changes. Spleens- 4 out of 10 spleens examined harboured numerous preisinusoidal eosinophils, this matching the number of similarly affected kidneys. Brains: NAD
