Family Parvoviridae, subfamily Densovirinae. Virions measure 22nm, icosahedral virion, ssDNA.

MBV - High mortalities in Peneas monodon, 90% mortality in severe infections of larval stages. Gross symptoms - Low HP lipid, Midgut whitish in appearance HPV - Disease with mortalities rare but has been observed in PL’s, small juveniles and adults, causes growth suppression. Significant mortalities have been documented in L. vannamei adults. HPV can infect P.monodon, P.esculentus, P.semisulcatus, Fe. Mergiensis, Fe. Indicus, Fe. Chinensis, Fe. Penicillatus, L. vannamei and L. stylorostris.
MBV - Intranuclear eosinophillic spherical occlusion bodies in epithelial cells of hepatopancreatic tubules. HPV - Characteristic basophilic intranuclear inclusion bodies within tubule epithelial cells of the hepatopancreas. Prominent nucleolar cap on inclusion body
