The 2nd Premiam Conference... A great success.

18 June 2014

The 2nd Premiam conference was held in London on June 4th 2014. With over 100 delegates from across government, industry and academia and with representatives from across the UK and Europe it provided a unique delegate profile to address many of the key issues facing those interesting in effective post-spill environmental monitoring.

The day included a range of speakers plus panel sessions and plenty of opportunity for plenary discussion and networking. The day focussed around key challenges including preparedness, management & coordination and funding as well as an opportunity to learn from several incident case studies. In general it was recognised that the work done under the Premiam umbrella to promote best practice in the application of science and management was of high value but there were still many challenges and issues to address before we can be truly prepared to undertake major post-spill monitoring programmes with full effectiveness. Key issues were noted as outcomes from the conference and will be addressed across the Premiam network.

For more information on the aims and content of the day please refer to the conference delegate notes which includes summaries of the content of each of the presentations.

The 3rd Premiam Conference is scheduled for 2016. The Premiam coordinator, Mark Kirby (mark.kirby@cefas.co.uk), would welcome any expressions of interest and suggestions for key content.
