Scientific Advisor, Climate Change Impacts and Adaptation
Overall responsibility to provide leadership across the organisation's climate-related portfolio. Director of the Cefas Marine Climate Change Centre (MC3). This role includes strategic planning of research goals and initiatives, as well as managing a 'Memorandum of Understanding' with the UK Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (Defra) to provide advice and evidence on marine climate change.
Appointed UK representative (April 2013) on the ICES Science Committee (SCICOM). Honorary secretary and trustee of the Fisheries Society of the British Isles (FSBI). Awarded the Fisheries Society of the British Isles 'FSBI Medal' in July 2009, in advances in the study of fish biology and/or fisheries. Honorary Lecturer in the Schools of Environmental and Biological Sciences at the University of East Anglia (2002-present). Strong publication record (60+ peer reviewed publications, 30 high-profile government reports). h-index (Google Scholar) = 30.0. Extensive experience in the administration and management of fisheries and climate change research programmes.
